Reimagining Counseling
A few years ago, I was in a dark place. I walked into a therapist's office not really knowing what to expect, and she saved my life. That experience changed the direction of mine. I spent the next several years training to be able to offer other people what she offered me.
Before that, I spent two decades as the Business Manager and CFO of a family-owned business here in Oklahoma City. I left that role to do this work full-time. I mention it not because it's relevant to therapy, but because I understand what it's like to build a life around competence and responsibility, and to realize somewhere along the way that something underneath it still needs attention.
I hold a Master of Divinity as well as a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Oklahoma, and I'm currently an LPC Candidate under the supervision of Abbey Blair, M.A., LPC-S. My approach is grounded in existential therapy and Bowen family systems. I'm interested in how the patterns we live inside of, and the questions we've stopped asking, shape what feels stuck in the present.
I work with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, stress, grief, and questions of self-esteem and identity. My graduate training in divinity means I'm comfortable holding faith and spirituality as part of the conversation when it matters to you, including religious trauma, deconstruction, and spiritual abuse, without assuming it has to be part of the conversation if it doesn't. I also work with men navigating what it means to ask for help in the first place, and I'm affirming of LGBTQ+ clients.
I see clients at my Oklahoma City office (Shepherd Counseling Services) and at CorAspire in Edmond, in person or online. I'm currently in-network with Aetna and BlueCross BlueShield, and offer self-pay and sliding-scale options. As an LPC Candidate, my work is supervised. I am happy to answer any questions about what that means for you as a client.
If you're feeling stuck, or like there's something underneath the version of yourself you've been living, I'd like to talk. Reach out for a free 15-minute consultation.
